Are You Treating Your Phone Better Than Your Body?

ree

We've all had that mini heart attack when our phone's battery dips into the red zone. You know the drill: we frantically search for a charger and breathe a sigh of relief as those little bars climb back up. Or even better: we use ‘low power mode’ and give ours phones a rest from all of background ‘thinking/processes’ until we can recharge. But here's a thought: do we give our own energy levels the same attention? Think about it. We rarely let our phones hit 0% before plugging in, yet we often push our bodies way beyond their limits. We skip meals, cheat sleep, and ignore those whispers of burnout, until we're running on fumes or worse, fully crashed. Why the disconnect? Why do we sometimes treat our devices with more care than our own well-being? It's a modern paradox. We're wired to be "on," to produce, to keep going. Rest gets labelled as a luxury, not a necessity. But, here’s the thing: you're not a machine. You're a living, breathing human with needs.

And just like your phone, you need to recharge regularly to function at your best. So, how can you start prioritising your energy tank?

  • Listen to your body: Don't brush aside those signals of fatigue, hunger, or mounting stress. They're not "weakness," they're your body's way of communicating with you. Listen.

  • Schedule "recharge" moments: Pencil them into your day, just like any other important appointment. A walk, a bath, a few minutes of quiet – whatever fits the bill.

  • Nourish to flourish: Ditch the quick-fix mindset. Choose more whole, minimally processed foods that provide sustained energy and keep you feeling good from the inside out.

  • Sleep: your ultimate power-up: Aim for 7-9 hours of quality shut-eye. Think of it as your nightly system reboot.

  • Move for mood and energy: Find activities you love! Dance, hike, swim, lift – joyful movement is a powerful energy booster.

You are your greatest asset. When you prioritise your energy and well-being, you're not being selfish; you're setting yourself up to thrive in every area of your life.

Let me know what resonated with you most!
